Benefits of Membership
Club Meetings Monthly on the 1st Wednesday PAC in partnership with the Prescott Public Library hosts a public meeting at the library. Featured speakers include professional astronomers, scientists, hobbyists and club members who are working on or reporting about interesting space and astronomy events and topics.
Public Star Parties – Part of our mission is to promote public awareness of astronomy. PAC sponsors numerous public star parties each year. Star parties include public and private observation opportunities at local parks, member provided properties, communities, and other venues by request.
Other Outreach – The club offers educational outreach programs in local schools, and members enjoy helping young people learn about astronomy and related science. The club partners with the Prescott Public Library in presenting the monthly club meeting series of lectures on astronomy and related science topics.
Observing Programs – PAC offers several fun and challenging observing programs designed to enhance your knowledge of the night sky while improving your observing skills, and schedules club star parties for members only.
Learn from Other Club Members – Mentors are available to help you with your equipment, software, websites, general knowledge, and more.
META SIG – Meet-Eat-Talk-Astronomy Special Interest Group — a social gathering at a local restaurant (approximately bi-monthly).
Astronomical League – As a member of PAC, you are also a member of the League and will receive its quarterly magazine, Reflector. See www.astroleague.org
Access to Club Equipment – The club has telescopes and other items to loan to members.
Magazine Discounts – PAC members are eligible for discounts on subscriptions to Sky & Telescope and Astronomy magazines, but as we have learned there are deeper discounts available online.
Astrophotography Special Interest Group – Members get together to learn and share the art of taking pictures of night sky objects.
